4 Print Competitions
- The Gordon Hankin Memorial Trophy for the Best Print.
- The George Rosedale Memorial Trophy for the Best Urban Print. Includes Architecture, Urban and Regional Town Landscape, Street Photography.
- The George Thomas Memorial Trophy for the Best Monochrome Print.
- The Barbara Symonds Memorial Trophy for the Best B Grade Print - ONLY B grade members may enter
Minimum print/mount size: 18cm on the longest side.
Maximum Print/mount size: 40cm by 50cm.
Print out a label from VP and attach to the back of each print. Untick ‘Display Author’s Name”.
4 Projected Image (DPI) Competitions
- The Viola Boice Memorial Trophy for the Best Landscape Colour Projected Image. An image featuring the natural scenery of the terrain or coastline and may include people, buildings, sheds, livestock or other objects that give context to the image, provided that they do not dominate the picture.
- The Edith Conway Memorial Trophy for the Best Colour or Monochrome Projected Image of a Person or Persons, which may range from head to a full-length study. Includes candid and formal portraits.
- The Wilfred Broadhead Memorial Trophy for the Best Colour Projected Image. A colour image is an image that is not a monochrome image (there is a separate competition for monochrome images). An image with varying tones of a single colour (e.g. red or blue) is still considered a monochrome image. The intent of this competition is to award the best image (subject ,lighting, composition etc) that is presented in colour, rather than the boldest, most colourful image.
- The Nell and Viv Bennett Perpetual Trophy for the Best Nature Projected Image.
Nature is as defined by the The Australian Photographic Society (APS) Definition of Nature - click here
The image is to reflect the ‘truth’ as observed by the photographer and may be natural landscapes, and/or fauna and flora.
While the final determination of eligibility of an entered image will be referred to the APS definition of Nature, the following summary can be used as a guide:
Allowed.
Objects created by humans, and evidence of human activity, when they are an essential part of the nature story e.g. birds nesting on man-made structures, scientific bands and tags.
Photographs of animals taken in zoos.
Minimal post production editing including cropping, contrast, saturation, dodging, burning, clarity and sharpening.
Removal of elements added by the camera such as dust spots, digital noise and lens flare.
Conversion to greyscale monochrome.
Focus stacking and exposure blending based on photos of the same scene.
Stitching of overlapping images.
Not allowed.
Adding a vignette or blurring the background in post production.
Photographs of cultivated plants, feral animals, domesticated animals, farm animals.
Composites of multiple images.
Adding, moving or removing image elements in post production.
Partial conversion to greyscale monochrome and infrared capture or conversion.
Digital Images: Max file size: 2 MB jpeg images suggested in sRGB colour space
1 Audio Visual Competition
- CCC Best Audio Visual. Subject open. MP4 or .exe file formats, that run for no longer than 6 minutes. Comprises still images but may include Video clips must not exceed 20% of running time. Archival or third party images, may be used where important to the story. There will be two awards given - winner and runner-up. The member who is ranked 'winner' cannot also be awarded 'runner-up'.
Entry Submission
Each Member can submit a maximum of 10 Entries:
- 2 image entries per Trophy (DPI or PRINT) with a maximum of 8 image entries overall across all the DPI and Print Trophy Competitions
- 2 AV entries
Note that only one version of an image can be entered into the EOY Trophy Competition. You may not enter the same image into more than one DPI or PRINT Trophy competition. Even if it is a variation of an image ie. monochrome vs colour
All print ,dpi and AV entries are submitted using the relevant Trophy Competition in the Members' Hub. Note: for the AV Competition only submit a single JPG image that visually represents the production for display and certificate purposes.
Audio Visual executable entries are submitted to the Audiovisual Group Convener by entering avgroup@camberwellcameraclub.org.au as the email address into WeTransfer.com .
Prints to be given to Print Stewards on any Competition night from August until close of EOY Competition
AWARDS
For each of the Trophy Competitions, the:
- winners will receive a Trophy and Certificate.
- runner-up will receive a Certificate (Note: AV Winner may not also be Runner-up)
- winner of the Image of the Year will be presented with the Annual Year Book.
Instructions for entering the End of Year Trophy Competitions
Images for the End of Year Trophy Competitions can be entered through the Members’ Hub home page via the link Submit Images to a Competition in the Competitions section or through menu: Competitions>Submit Images to a Competition.
In the Submit Images to a Competition screen you will note 3 End of Year Competitions:
- Audio Visual
- DPI (digital images)
- Print
Within the DPI and Print competitions, the individual DPI & Print categories are listed.
To enter a DPI image into one of the DPI categories (The process is similar for Print categories):
- click Select on the left side of the DPI Competition row. Submit Images to a Competition screen will be displayed.
- click Upload Images or Add Images from my Image library, as you would for the monthly competitions.
- Upload Images screen or Select Images screen will be displayed.
- Select Images from your computer or your image library (through search for images).
- Click Save Images and Proceed to Edit Page or Finished Marking Desired Images (for library images). Edit New Images screen will be displayed.
- Near the bottom of that screen you will note in a blue box: Select a Competition Level together with a drop down box.
- Click the drop down box and select the competition level (category) you are entering for this particular image.

- Click Save any changes and return to the original page at the bottom of the screen.
- Submit Images to a Competition screen will be displayed showing your image and the category it has been entered into.
